10/18/2021 Kyrie Irving, BKN, G
Nets general manager Sean Marks announced Tuesday that Irving will not practice or play with the team for as long as he remains unvaccinated against COVID-19.

Analysis: Irving would have been eligible to take part in most road games under his current vaccination status, but the Nets would have faced several restrictions under the NBA policy and decided it's not worth the trouble. Don't expect this standoff to end anytime soon, but for now Bruce Brown figures to take Irving's spot in the starting lineup and James Harden should take on more ball-handling responsibilities.
10/18/2021 Bobby Portis, MIL, F-C
Portis will miss the Bucks' season opener against the Nets as he continues to deal with a strained hamstring.

Analysis: Portis sustained the injury in a scrimmage two weeks ago and sat out the entire preseason as a result, though he's since been cleared to shoot. Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Sandro Mamukelashvili are candidates to take Portis' rotation spot against the Nets.

10/18/2021 James Wiseman, GSW, C
The Warriors expect Wiseman (knee surgery) to be fully cleared to play within the next two weeks.

Analysis: Wiseman, who tore his meniscus back in April, is reportedly close to being ready and may miss only a handful of games. Kevon Looney is expected to begin the season as the Warriors' starting center.
